The Job

Design, build, race, and win!

There are many different jobs that need to be done within the team, both engineering and logistical. The tasks our members have to perform range from contacting sponsors to constructing 3D models of the car to manufacturing the components to organising the logistics for the competitions and press events! Our team employs a highly diverse group of students with various technical and cultural backgrounds to ensure that the team is firing on all cylinders and spinning all four wheels throughout the entirety of the season!

Engineering and Management

Our team offers a variety of positions:

Joining FS Team Delft as a full-time member gives you the amazing opportunity to manage a student project with over 100 active participants. Perhaps you will even be our next Team Manager, or run your own technical department! Apart from full-time management functions you can join as a full-time engineer. In this case you will be given responsibility of designing one of the subsystems of the car.

As a part time engineer you have the unique challenge to (co)design and build a part of our next racer. Your designs will be put to test in the highly competitive Formula Student events with over 400 university teams participating worldwide. You will get to work with extremely capable and motivated colleagues from all the different faculties of the TU Delft.

There are also operations and logistics positions available within the team, which deal less with the design and construction of the car, and more with the behind-the-scenes part of the project, such as sponsor contact, planning press events, designing the car livery, running the social media and public relations, and organising the logistics for the competitions.

We want you!

Third-year bachelors’ student from selected faculties might have the opportunity to join FS Team Delft as part of their free minor.
You will work on a full-time engineering function during the first semester and follow a set of courses that complement your work. You need to get your free minor approved by the exam committee of your faculty. FS Team Delft can assist you in picking your courses.
The following topics might be interesting for your free minor project:

  • Accumulator design

  • Control systems

  • Design of a mechanical component

  • Theoretical vehicle design

  • HV electronics design

  • Ergonomic design

  • Aerodynamic design

  • Composite structural engineering

Disclaimer: Please note that approval from the exam committee of your faculty is necessary and not guaranteed. Also there are limited places available. In case the number of applications exceeds the number of available places, a selection will be made by the team.

No Experience Required

Any bachelor or master student can join the team. Experience is not required, the only requirement is motivation!

We expect team members to be dedicated and show initiative. Part timers are expected to design a part on the car and join a weekly department meeting. We estimate the design of a part requires at least 15 hours of work per week.
