I am Martijn Janssen, a third year Computer Science bachelor student at the TU Delft. This will be my first year as a member at Formula Student Team Delft and I have joined the team as a part of my minor.
The TU-Delft has various DREAM-teams that compete in different student competitions around the globe, for instance, apart from my own team, there is the Nuon Solar Team that builds a solar-powered car and ForzeH2, which constructs a racer that runs on hydrogen fuel cells. Due to the fact that all these DREAM teams are located in one building, the DREAM-hall is a very nice place where all groups have an individual workshop to build the project of their dreams. There is all kinds of useful and necessary equipment in the DREAM-hall like milling machines and lathes. All the tools the teams need are here!
I will be joining the software department of Formula Student Team Delft. The software department will be taking care of all the computer programming in the car. Before we begin writing the code, various other events need to take place in order for the project to succeed. An important thing to do before starting with building the car is making sure that your vision complies with the myriad of regulations put forth by the competition officials, and so every team member takes a rules test. Fortunately, this year almost the entire team passed with flying colors.
Next, we are starting the design phase and form high level plans for this year's formula racer. We look forward to improving upon the benchmarks set by the successful cars of the previous years!
