I’m Alexander Misdorp and this is my second year at the team. I am now a master student doing Computer Engineering while also participating at Formula Student Team Delft on the side. As I learned a lot last year at the team I decided to continue for a second year especially because we’re developing more vehicle components on our own this year.
The car we design and build throughout the year wouldn’t function without a driver. That’s why one of the fun activities we do with the team is karting. We do this about three times a year in different locations throughout the Netherlands. Next to it being a fun activity that is good for team bonding, it also allows us to see who is the fastest on the track. Because the competitions only feature student drivers it is a good first indication of what someone’s skills are.
Over the course of the three karting sessions it becomes clear who might be our own next Max Verstappen. The people who set the best lap times could go on and make it into the driver selection after which that person’s qualities are further tested.
As the last time out was very fun I’m looking forward to the next kart session!
